Highcross Shopping Centre, Leicester

Highcross Shopping Centre is Leicester’s premier retail destination and the focal point of the city’s regeneration strategy. This project involves the redesign and enhancement of four key entrances—East Gates, High Street, Church Gate, and New Bond Street—each conceived as a contextual urban landmark inspired by the city’s textile heritage. The works form part of Ellandi’s long-term investment programme to strengthen Highcross’s urban identity, accessibility, and public realm quality.

Design Statement

Gen2Tek was appointed as Building Regulations Principal Designer under the Building Safety Act 2022 to oversee compliance and manage design assurance throughout the PCSA and construction stages. Our scope encompasses managing Building Regulations compliance reviews across Parts A–S, developing and maintaining the BSA Tracker, Change Control Plan, and Competence Declaration, and liaising with Building Control to monitor design submissions for compliance. We coordinate architectural, structural, and specialist contractor design inputs while overseeing completion-stage documentation, including Reg 11D declarations, and interface with the Principal Contractor (Princebuild Ltd) during construction.
